The Pharmacy Prime Team
Our Team at Pharmacy Prime are leading pioneers of pharmacy service
development, responsible for some of the most significant innovations
in pharmacy service development and provision. It is the range
of experience in a number of care environments and the pharmacy
service that can be delivered, that provides Pharmacy Prime with
an unrivalled level of experience and market knowledge.
Leading the Pharmacy Prime team is Prof. Peter Weedle, a community pharmacist with over 25 years’ experience
serving his community and local nursing homes. He is an adjunct Professor of
Clinical Practice at the School of Pharmacy, University College, Cork (UCC).
UCC will be working closely with Pharmacy Prime to jointly develop and improve
medication management systems.
Formerly Registrar at the Pharmaceutical Society
of Ireland and a regular advisor on health and pharmacy
matters, Prof. Weedle is the founder of Pharmacy Prime. His aim
is as simple as it is direct: to provide a range of pharmacy services
which are unrivalled in scope and ambition but which deliver a safe and
efficient service for nursing and care staff and residents alike.
Dr. Mark Ledwidge is a pharmacist with a research
and teaching interest in Cardiovascular Disease. In particular, his interests
include medication adherence
in chronic illness, telemedicine and cardiovascular
therapeutics. He is Director of Heart Failure Research
in St Vincent’s
University Hospital and Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine
in University
College, Dublin.
Dr. Ledwidge is a key researcher into patient
compliance and ways of improving medicine delivery to patients.
Norman Niven is
the third member of the Pharmacy Prime team and is the designer, developer
and manufacturer of Biodose. A pharmacist, Norman Niven has over 30 years
experience in providing pharmacy services to nursing homes and community
patients, having designed and developed the Nomad medication management system,
which became the market leading system in the UK.
Norman went on to become
a director of the largest private health care organisation in the UK, BUPA,
before being commissioned to develop a Pharmacy Service Audit for Four Seasons
Health Care, one of the largest nursing home groups in the UK with over 17,000
beds.
Many of the new services on offer from Pharmacy Prime, have been developed as a direct result of the findings from the Pharmacy Service Audit for Four Seasons Health Care in the UK for which Norman Niven was commissioned.
Indeed the Audit has been refined and modified for use in Ireland and is exclusive to Pharmacy Prime.
Pharmacy Prime is the vehicle for change and with it a depth of knowledge
and experience unmatched in Ireland.
